Where is the ocean Buffer Project?

The Ocean Buffer Project is based on the south coast of Cornwall, in the village of Treverva, near Falmouth.

Where the Mini Oceans Grow

Our growing hub sits on agricultural land where we are developing a small, low-impact algae site. The space includes:

  • A polytunnel for controlled algae cultivation
  • Outdoor growing systems using repurposed and recycled tanks
  • Rainwater collection using recycled, food-safe plastic
  • Low-energy drying racks for harvested biomass
  • Space for volunteers, workshops, and community sessions

Rooted in Cornwall, Designed for Anywhere

The site has been designed to work with the land rather than against it. We prioritise manual tools where possible, minimise soil disturbance and reuse materials wherever we can.

Cornwall is central to this project. We source serpentine locally, collaborate with regional organisations and we speak openly about ocean health because we live beside it.

Being coastal shapes the work. The project is rooted here, but the model is intentionally simple and adaptable to take anywhere.

Why not get involved?

Everyone is welcome. Come and learn, grow, and take climate action that really makes a difference.
